Black Rock Holistic Health Center
Owner and founder of the Black Rock Holistic Health Center, Dr. Kristine DeMarco received her Doctorate of Chiropractic and Masters in Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport. Dr. DeMarco has been a member of the Adjunct Faculty at the school's College of Naturopathic Medicine since 2001, where she teaches a year of physical medicine and a semester of neurology.
At the Center she integrates chiropractic care, nutrition, acupuncture and physical therapy to treat acute and chronic pain. Health problems involving musculoskeletal pain, such as neck and back pain, disc herniations, sciatica, muscle pain and extremity problems are addressed on an individual basis. Disc herniation is treated conservatively with acupuncture, Cox flexion-distraction technique, nutrition supplements and physical therapy exercises. Dr. DeMarco is a Cox Certified Doctor -- the Cox Technique is one of the best treatments for disc problems and sciatica.
Other certifications included Applied Kinesiology and Graston Technique. Graston Technique is a new state-of-the-art soft tissue treatment for acute and chronic tissue injuries, using specially designed stainless steel instruments to specifically detect and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation.
Detoxification programs are offered in the spring and the fall each year. Detoxification is a continuous physiologic process that your body depends on for survival. There are complex cellular detoxification mechanisms that are constantly at work for you all day, every day. Natural and synthetic chemicals are processed by this complex system of cells and organ systems to keep your system working in the face of a virtually constant barrage of toxic material. It is a 21-day detoxification program which include two meal replacements with fruit shakes and is an eating detox, where the patient is allowed one meal per day and one to two snacks. Average weight loss is 10 to 15 lbs.
Naturopathic Medicine is also offered by the Center with Dr. Eleonore Hershberger, who specializes in Homeopathy. In 1994, Dr. Hershberger received her Naturopathic Degree from National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, OR.
