ChamberWorks' star correspondent is away on vacation, but we've talked him into filing some dispatches from his distant hideaway.

Happy 7th of July, Fairfield

Postponed twice by threatening weather, Fairfield's fireworks show finally shot into the sky over Jennings Beach on July 7 as planned. Well, re-planned.

Our steadfast staff photographer was strategically placed in a cloud of flying insects so he could bring these images to you.

He was also in a good position to hear the pre-show entertainment in the marina parking lot, as rouge fireworks exploded overhead and someone lit off an entire brick of firecrackers a few yards behind him.

Throughout the show there were repeated calls to shoot down an airplane circling the area and to blow things up in general. If our man in the field was beginning to think he was caught in a summer action movie, he ultimately decided that a movie would have edited out the mosquitos.

Arts & Crafts Show Winners

A full report on this year's Arts & Crafts show (with pictures!) is forthcoming, but we'd like to take a moment to immortalize the winners in the arts and crafts categories.

As two-time winners, Ori Goldberg and Tom Kretsch have been inducted into the Artists Hall of Fame.

(Editors note: We misspelled the names of Janice Flynn and Peter Bowe when this article was first posted. They have been corrected.)
