Gleefully Bunched at the Seagrape Café

The Chamber kicked off the new year with a Business After Hours event at the Seagrape Inn's Seagrape Café that drew around 95 people -- by far the biggest turnout in recent memory (and by "recent" we mean the stuff we have a decent shot at remembering on a good day). It was an evening of networking, good food and drink, and for some -- you know who you are -- a chance to revisit their misspent youth.

Patricia managed to stay on her diet despite the fantastic hors d'oeuvres (she might have cheated a little with the quiche, but there was spinach involved), all of them prepared by the café's very own chef. As always, you could tell by the number of people who lingered well past 7 o'clock that the event was a hit. Don't believe us? Take a look at Greg Beno's slideshow and then try to convince us that the aforementioned 95 approximate people weren't having a high old time.

And with that rousing start to 2007, we look forward to Savor the Flavor on Feb. 2 at the Scandinavian Club, followed by the February Business After Hours at the Cruise & Resort Connection on the 20th. We'll see you there.

2007 Member Directory is Coming Soon

This year's Membership Directory & Resource Guide is now in the hands of the printers, and we expect to have them around the end of the month.

We're also anticipating the delivery of something a little different around that same time, but it's a hush-hush super secret ... so we can't tell you. Yet.

Savor the Flavor of This

Our annual wine tasting event gets an upgrade this year, with five area restaurants offering fine cuisine alongside the fine wines provided by Harry's Wine and Liquor Market. Food and wine together ... who would've thunk it?

Coppia, The Field, The Pantry, Taco Loco and Vino on the Brick Walk will all be participating on the food side of things. Oh, and the Pantry is presenting the desserts ... 'nuff said. Your stomach is already signing up for this event whether you know it or not.

You need more reasons to be at the Scandinavian Club Feb. 2, my dear friend? Well, let me tell you. We've got silent auction items for your perusal, generously donated by area businesses. A sampling:

Plus floral arrangements, a weekend car rental, a round of golf, spa treatments, a six-foot sub sandwich, jewelry, candy, works of art ... plus more stuff we don't even know about yet. And we'll have door prizes too, like a two-night stay at the Interlaken Inn, or dinner and tickets to see Hairspray. Oh, and we'll have live music too.

If we haven't got your attention by now, you're spending way too much time watching TV. Register online or call us at 255-1011, and do it before your stomach steals the credit cards.

Happy New Year, and All That

In our opinion, the obligatory "Happy New Year" article should always be prefaced like so:

Happy New Year and all that, but let's face it -- we're still the same baboons we were a month ago.

With that out of the way, we may now proceed to make (and break in record time) our New Year's resolutions, look ahead with great optimism (memo to ourself: clean glasses first) and generally pretend that everything is shiny and new again.

Just be careful as you're writing out those shiny new 2006 2007 checks.
