A Flapping Good Time

The Chamber's 60th Anniversary Celebration event brought island-flavored music, cocktails, tropical themes and a lively live auction to the Patterson Club for one night only.

With a live band adding more than the usual ambience, our May 6 Birds of a Feather event was an all-around fun and relaxed evening from the get-go. The crowd was busy dancing, mixing, chatting, eating and drinking and having a general good time the whole time.

Some new faces were on hand -- members who signed up during the Chamber's membership drive. (Special thanks go out to Bob Sussman of Fairfield Center Jewelers, who brought more businesses into the Chamber family than any other.) Birds of a Feather was a celebration for them as much as for the Chamber. C'mon -- how many welcome parties include pink flamingo lollipops and bottles of bubble soap topped with tropical fish? I bet they don't do that in Greenwich.

Our newest members weren't the only people who left feeling good. Arianna Hudson of Fairfield County Bank walked off with the door prize, a dinner for four at La Colline Verte. The silent auction attracted lots of interest, with something for everybody's price range. And the lucky bidders in the live auction went home with some great stuff.

Gwynn and Ted Fizgerald will give new meaning to "home-cooked dinner" when DaPietro's Restaurant performs an interactive cooking demonstration at their home, preparing a meal for eight. Janice and Ed Musante were the high bidders for a 2.5 caliper hybrid pink dogwood tree, to be planted and cared for in its first year by The Care of Trees. Mary Beth and Philip Morris will enjoy an overnight stay at the Water's Edge Resort and Spa in Westbrook, and Diane Melish and Alex McNab will be doing the same at Lakeville's Interlaken Inn.

Many thanks to our 60th Anniversary sponsors: Blackrock Realty, Fairfield County Bank, Blum Shapiro, Fairfield University, Stoneridge Partners LLC, ConnectiCare, Webster Bank, Brody, Wilkinson & Ober, Dunlap-Hibbs Real Estate, Patriot National Bank, Sacred Heart University, Kleban & Samor P.C. and Landmark Financial Group LLC.

And even now that the dancing is over and the crowd has gone home with their tropical-themed party favors in hand, the Chamber's anniversary celebration continues, right up to the Annual Dinner June 7. There's lots of other Chamber activity going on in between, with the VIP Awards May 16, Business Showcase on the 17th, and a Business After Hours May 31 at Salon V. Hope to see you there.
