'Birds' to Display Some Fine Plumage

The May 6 Birds of a Feather event, the capstone of the Chamber's 60th anniversary celebration, will feature a live auction item donated by DaPietro's Restaurant: a lunch or dinner for eight people, prepared and served at the home of the lucky high bidder.

Chef Pietro Scotti has been honored annually since 1993 as one of North America's top-rated chefs for his blend of the cuisines of Northern Italy and Southern France.

Also up for bidding is a romantic overnight stay at the Interlaken Inn in Lakeville. Cocktails, movie tickets and breakfast in the morning are all included. We understand that Paul Newman stays at the inn when he races at Lyme Rock Park (but no, he's not included in the package).

Celebrity chefs, celebrity bed & breakfasts ... how about a celebrity tree? The Care of Trees will provide a 2-1/2 caliper hybrid dogwood tree -- the very emblem of Fairfield -- and plant, fertilize and care for it five times throughout the year. The tree comes with a one-year guarantee.

The auction will feature items to fit everyone's taste and budget: golf clubs, teeth whitening, Pilot Pen Tennis tickets, and summer camp for the kids.

Birds of a Feather is sponsored by Blackrock Realty LLC, Fairfield County Bank Corp., Fairfield University, Blum Shapiro, Webster Bank NA, Stoneridge Partners LLC, ConnectiCare, Brody, Wilkinson & Ober, Patriot National Bank, Dunlap-Hibbs Real Estate, Sacred Heart University, Landmark Financial Group LLC, and Kleban and Samor PC.

April Business After Hours: Vroom, Vroom

Once again, Porsche, Audi, Mercedes-Benz of Fairfield put on a fabulous show for our Apr. 11 Business After Hours.

Their brand new service center on Scofield Avenue in Bridgeport redefines the concept of an auto repair shop. From the spotlessly clean tile floors to the leather couch and big-screen plasma TV, it couldn't have been a better setting for a networking event. And the food was top-notch as always.

Three lucky winners will get to drive a Porsche, Mercedes or Audi for a weekend -- quite a door prize. And speaking of cars, all of the cars being serviced are housed inside the building, which is immense.

If you couldn't be there, take a look at the latest Greg Beno slideshow and see what you were missing.
