January's Business After Hours in Pictures
Not only do we have photos Patricia took at the Jan. 11 Business After Hours at Fischel Properties, we also have another dotPhoto slideshow from Greg Beno, who's clearly having fun as the Chamber's Official Event Photographer.
We had a big turnout for the event, which boasted catering by Health in a Hurry and chair massages by Sabita Kanhai of Sabita Holistic Center. (It only looks like she's smothering people -- watch for Tim Kwait of Night & Day Media near the end of Greg's slideshow, photographed from below the chair. We understand he's already plotting his revenge.)
Our next Business After Hours is Feb. 22 at Vino on the Brick Walk. We hope to see you there.
Chamber Holds Open House Jan. 25
The Chamber welcomes our members and the general public to a free Open House at our expanded offices at 1597 Post Road in Fairfield on Wednesday, Jan. 25 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. For those of you who haven't been following the story of our renovations, the Chamber's office space has doubled in the expansion, allowing us to create a conference room, a spacious foyer, a small kitchen and new storage areas. The Open House will feature refreshments and an opportunity to meet with Chamber staff and members of the board.
20,000 Songs - How Can You Go Wrong?
The song list for Twinkle, Twinkle Fairfield Star is now available:
twinkle-song-list.pdf (4 MB)
It's a huge list -- 20,000 songs! -- so it could be a slow download if you're on a dial-up connection.
You'll find music to fit any taste: country, rock, heavy metal, R&B, show tunes, you name it. From A Ha to ZZ Top, we have it all. Pick a favorite and get ready to karaoke your heart out, 'cause Feb. 16 is show time.
Sponsors Line Up For 60th Anniversary Celebration
The Chamber's 60th Anniversary Celebration has only just begun, and already four of our members have signed on as sponsors. Over the next six months we'll be reminding everyone what the Chamber is all about, with a membership drive in April and our May 6 Birds of a Feather indoor beach party as the centerpieces of the campaign. Our sponsors will be a part of it all -- press releases, flyers, event signage and more.
In the theme-appropriate "Beach Bums" category we have Fairfield County Bank and Blackrock Realty. Fairfield University is our first "Coral Reefer," and Brody, Wilkinson & Ober has claimed a slot in the "Margariters" category.
These are just the confirmed sponsors. Many more have expressed an interest, so don't miss this chance to put your name in front of the public from now to June 30. Full details about these sponsorships and our promotional campaign are in the November ChamberWorks.
Web Site Improvements Underway
We experienced some technical difficulties with our online Member Directory as the new year dawned, but our webmaster has done some tinkering behind the scenes and it's been running smoothly ever since.
We expect some additional fine-tuning in the near future, all designed to take some of the load off the database server. The Member Directory is one of the most heavily trafficked areas of the Chamber web site, so every little bit we can do to make it better helps our visitors find what they're looking for: our members.
The most popular categories last month were Restaurants and Day Spas, in case you were wondering.
