President's Message
Congratulations to our Wine Tasting and Silent Auction Committee,
headed by Denise Johnson! Over 160 people attended this key Chamber
fund-raiser, hosted by the Greenwich Workshop Gallery on Friday,
January 25th. The proceeds from this event support the operating
budget of the Chamber itself. It was especially gratifying to meet
many non-Chamber members at the event. This proves that our
publicity campaign worked and the Chamber is successful in reaching
out beyond our membership for support. Many thanks to all of you who
donated silent auction items. And finally, a big thanks to Saul
Pollock and his staff at Harry's Wine & Liquor for the great
selection of wines presented.
Our next event is Casino Royale at The Patterson Country Club on April 20th. This event replaces the town-wide Clambake. Unlike the proceeds from the Wine Tasting & Silent Auction that support the Chamber itself, the proceeds from this event go to a separate account to market Fairfield and its businesses.
Ted Fitzgerald and his Marketing Committee need additional sponsors and "high roller" prizes for this evening. Please contact Ted or Patricia if you can help us make this event a success. The Chamber is excited about bringing this entertaining evening to Fairfield without the need to ask for volunteers to work the event! Just come with friends to have fun and you'll enable us to continue marketing your town and business.

Casino Royale Update
The State of Connecticut has issued all necessary permits, and Casino
Royale is a definite GO. To date we have $7,300 pledged from
sponsors. Starwood Ceruzzi has come forward to assume a Platinum level
sponsorship, thus allowing the company name to be printed on thousands
of Save the Date cards, approximately 1,500 invitations, and play money
to be used the evening of the event. Fairfield University has also
stepped up to the plate, and with a Gold sponsorship, will receive two
tickets to the event in addition to mention in all advertising. And most
of all, kudos to small business owner, Janet Hogarth of The Chocolate
Shoppe who, without hesitation, was the first person to sign onto the
program with a Silver sponsorship.
Joe Stamler, Visual Transformations, is designing the invitations, and Critical Entertainment has been hired to provide the music. High Roller and silent auction prizes continue to be sought. Among items recently obtained for the small, silent auction and High Roller prizes are Pearle Vision-designer sunglasses valued at $130; basketball camp at Fairfield University for one male and one female valued at $235 each; an autographed picture of the UCONN Women's Basketball Team; two tickets to a Giants game valued at $120; dinner for four at the Southport Brewery valued at $250; $100 gift certificate from The Mohegan Sun for dinner at the Italian restaurant Pompeii & Caesar; four tickets to a Mets game valued at $250 from Pinnacle Associates NYC; weekend for two at The Westport Inn valued at $150, and a helicopter ride for two from Park Lane Opticians valued at $500. And these are just a few of the items!
So write the date in ink. Get your tuxedo out of mothballs, brush up on your gaming skills and watch for your invitation. Remember that this is our only major fund-raiser this year. Your help in buying and selling tickets is critical. Call Linda at 255-1011 to reserve your place early, since space is limited.
