More members receiving public accolades: Sabita Holistic Center won for Best Alternative Health Care Center in Fairfield Weekly's 2008 "Best of Fairfield County Readers' Poll."
And while browsing the list, we spotted a few more award-winning members who never even told us (tsk tsk):
Cargo Bay for Best Women's Fashion (and 2nd place for Best Place to Buy Hip Clothing).
Eastern Mountain Sports for Best Outdoor Outfitter and Best Extreme Sports Store.
Firehouse Deli for Best Deli.
Saint Tropez for Best French Bistro and Best French Restaurant.
The Pantry for Best Gourmet Grocery Store and Best Dessert, plus 2nd place for Best Butcher and 3rd place for both Best Bakery and Best Caterer. Yikes.
Health in a Hurry for Best Healthy Fast Food, and 3rd place for Best Vegetarian Restaurant and the poetically named Best Place to Buy Soup.
The Field for Best Neighborhood Bar, plus 3rd place for Best Irish Restaurant and Best Place for Bar Food.
Fairfield University for Best Fairfield County 4-Year School (with Sacred Heart as runner-up).
And as mentioned earlier, Taco Loco won a couple of awards too. Our members were all over the joint, and if we missed anybody, let us know.
We bid farewell and good luck to John Sarra, a longtime and active member of the Chamber who has closed his business (CMIT Solutions of Eastern Fairfield County) to embark on a new venture.
"I will be joining Albertus Magnus College as an adjunct professor," he tells us, along with "some freelance writing of web site content for a Boston company called Internet Illuminations.
"I'm also looking for contract work as a technical writer for anyone needing user documentation or computer training."
Taco Loco won Fairfield Weekly's 2008 "Best of Fairfield County Readers' Poll" twice — first for Best Mexican Restaurant, and again for Best Margaritas. No small feat, and owner Miguel Tomasio thanks everyone for the honor. With 2-for-1 margaritas (and Coronas, too!) every Monday, that should be more than enough incentive to try them for yourself.

Fairfield resident Jana Rahrig, Account Executive of Adecco Employment, has been named to the company's President's Club for outstanding performance in 2007. Jana will be inducted into this prestigious group in May, surrounded by colleagues, friends and family. Following the induction she'll set sail on a cruise to the Bahamas.

The Flying Dish hosted a fund-raising dinner for Roger Ludlowe Middle School's Ludlowe Corps on Apr. 3. Money from the event will help operate a new elementary school in the Waranka School Organization in Guinaw-Rails, Senegal.
The Ludlowe Corps and the restaurant will work together to raise funds for teacher salaries, supplies and utilities for a full year.
News from two of our members this month: Renee Ruggiero of Fairfield County Bank and Peter Christopher of Fairfield County Home Inspection LLC joined up with Cindy Perham, president of the Fairfield Kiwanis Club, at the Kiwanis Mid-Winter Conference in Worcester, Massachusetts Mar. 7–9.
Renee and Peter both agree that what they learned at the conference greatly increased their understanding of the community's needs. It will not only help them be more productive as Kiwanis Club members but also aid them in their own business practices.
We just learned about it recently, but Taco Loco got a nice write-up in the New York Times last fall. Sitting here waiting for spring, we still find it appropriately stomach-warming.
John C. Hunt, Jr. of Norwalk was recently appointed General Manager of The Westport Inn.
A veteran of the Washington, DC hotel scene -- and an enthusiastic hobbyist chef -- Hunt has big plans for The Westport Inn. An expansion to 133 rooms is just the beginning. "Our goal is make the hotel the number one destination for area locals and out-of-town guests," he says.
